Mother's Day

Heart overflowing. Pure Joy. Ultimate Bliss. Knot in throat. Tears stinging eyes. Huge smile. LOVE.

All of those things I feel. Always. On Mother's Day especially. My first. A day dedicated to women who choose to put aside their own needs and wants and put someone else first. For me it was a day to reflect on all that has happened since I first found out about our little nugget of love. Brody may not have been planned, but he has been the life glue that hold us all together. He's a tangible force that reverberates a constant love flow. His smiles are contagious. From the very first sleep smile he cracked, to his tiny newborn fingers curling around mine. He is a force to be reckoned with. Motherhood is a force to be reckoned with. Feeling life grow inside of me, his life, it still leaves me speechless. Such a feeling that truly only mothers can understand. Powerful. What a huge responsibility God entrusts us with. These tiny lives that rely on us for everything. A whole new love vain pumps. I loved being pregnant. I loved watching my stomach grow bigger and bigger to accommodate my precious son. His sometimes too powerful punches reminding me of our intricate connection. His hiccups keeping me up at night. LIFE. Wow...so powerful, I just can't say it enough.

Then his debut. He decided to come to us on his own time, as he continues to do, with all things. Our world shook. Angels sang. Brody in our arms. Our love vain bursts; a never ending source. Life goes quickly. Time passes, memories are made, firsts are reached and my vulnerable heart aches as my infant grows into a strong, curious, crawling, bump into everything boy! He is developing his personality. His skills. His discoveries of life are nonstop. And I relish watching. I am still, breathless, as I watch my son crawl excitedly to the door when he hears Daddy's key turning. All things he is writing into his memory. I feel blessed to call myself a mother and I am so pleased I get to be counted in the ranks with mothers everywhere. We are selfless. We love big. We are fierce. And to my son Brody, thank you my sweet boy, for making me a mother. For teaching me love.
