Brody discovered my belly button. Daddy's too. We keep showing him his, but nothing tops ours. So now, a good amount of play time is tackling mommy and finding my belly button. He also seems keen on poking and prodding the extra skin still lingering after having him. I don't mind. Cause after a few pokes and belly button marvels he'll lay his head on my bare skin and look up at me with a silly grin on his face. The things that fascinate him!
Brody also loves to give kisses. I adore this! I don't care how slobbery they are or how often, they are magical. He can be knees deep in blocks and trucks and he'll stop and pucker up at me wanting to give momma a kiss. I melt. He will run up to us, frame our face with his little hands, and give a kiss. And his kisses always come with smiles. He showers his animals with kisses too, and if he kisses his animals mommy and daddy have to too. There are always Remi kisses involved but I usually have to cut those off.
Now that the holidays are getting closer, I keep thinking of all the traditions I want to start. A few we started last year, like going to the Christmas Stroll in Red Lodge and in Billings. We also want to start our annual after Thanksgiving Christmas Tree hunt. Jeff and I love real trees. I don't even mind the mess. I grew up with real trees, and they always seemed so magical and it was a high light of our Christmas season to go pick one out as a family. They weren't always the prettiest trees, we had our fair share of Charlie Brown's, but there was something always special about getting to pick it out. I can't wait for Brody to get to have that little bit of magic to look forward to! I also want to start collecting Christmas books so that eventually I can read him one every night of December. I got this idea off of a blog and thought it was a fantastic. I will definitely be hitting up after Christmas sales this year. I'd still like to think of something for us to do around Thanksgiving as a family that involves giving back. Maybe the week of Thanksgiving will be our annual toy cleanse...so to speak. Something where Brody can pick some toys he doesn't play with anymore and we can give them to charity. I want it to be something he looks forward to. I want him to come to understand the importance of giving and how rewarding it feels.
I also have big plans for doing a few holiday crafts. Thanks to Pinterest I have my heart set on making a new Christmas Tree skirt. They make it sound pretty simple in the instructions. Its no sew... I should totally be able to handle that. And if all else fails, I know Jeff will be more than willing to swoop in and set me straight. I laugh to myself a little because he will be watching me do something and I can sense him just itching to get his hands on my project to show me a "better" way of going about it. This usually leads to an eventual takeover, and while my project is getting completed I can sit back and enjoy a glass of wine. It's a win win really. I also want to try a few DIY gifts. I'm all about making my own body scrubs, and trying more natural routes as far as skin care. I've found a few recipes for making natural lip stains and lotions, so don't be surprised if you end up with one of my wonderful gifts ;) !
