Here's to you sunshine

I'm not sure where, exactly, I am going with this post today, but here are a few things I am sure of:
  • The sun has been out ALL day
  • I am wearing a maxi skirt (huge smile)
  • Brody and I went on an amazing run this morning
  • I feel genuinely deep in my gut happy

I hate to admit how much weather dictates my mood, but it does. That's why I know I couldn't handle living somewhere with more overcast days than sunny. In fact, I keep telling Jeff that if we just moved to Hawaii....well a girl can dream right? Lately, to lift my mood, I've been looking at this:

It's a picture I took when Jeff and I went camping in Jackson Hole for my birthday. It was a fantastic trip. We did what we do best - went pretty much unprepared and spent the first night eating Chinese then cuddling up in the back of the 4runner. We woke up to a moose strolling right past us. Have I ever mentioned I LOVE moose. When I was in high school I dated a guy who knew this about me and now I have a pretty decent collection of stuffed moose. Yes, I kept most of them. There is just something so majestic about moose. God created such amazing creatures for us to appreciate. The next night we found the best camping spot:

This is what we woke up to. BEAUTIFUL right? It makes my heart speed up a bit just remembering it. What more can you ask for....ok besides wanting to go back to that exact spot and wake up to this a few more times? Brody has a lot of camping trips already planned for him. I hope he loves it as much as we do. When I was growing up it felt like we spent the whole summer camping. They are some of the best childhood memories I have. I'm so excited that we get to make so many new memories with Brody. Back to our trip though. Not only did we find a great spot to camp but one of Jeff's many talents is making amazing campfire meals.

Scrambled eggs and breakfast sausage? Yes please. And we did share with the boys (Remi & Pepe).
After chowing down a friends of Jeff's told him about a waterfall a few miles past our campsite. Of course we had to check that out.

Then we were off to the top of the world. I am not much for heights and my mind likes to go to worst case scenario, but this was totally worth it.

It was cold, but there's something empowering being so high up and seeing for miles and miles. And thinking back now, the gondola ride up was pretty cool. Like all trips, this one want by way to fast. We also strolled around Jackson, tried out a local brewery and even went to Bar J Chuckwagon. It was something else. But entertaining none the less. It helped that my boss gave us free tickets.
Sadly we had to head home though. The bright side to driving back to Montana was that we HAD to drive through the park. And if you don't enjoy that then you are crazy!

Our second to last stop was pretty picturesque. And we made sure to enjoy every second of it, and tried to wear the dogs out for the long drive home. We definitely would've loved to stay longer, but the road was calling.

This was one of my best birthday adventures yet! Now we've got our little nugget to share our new adventures with. Get ready summer!
