I'm pretty sure in about 75% of our pictures my mouth is wide open. Our day was full of huge smiles, laughter and, of course, tears. Not mine. I surprisingly barely cried...and not even cried, I had huge tears well up but no pour over. My mom....oh she cried! As to be expected. I'm her baby, and we planned and planned for a year to make my dream day. Which is kind of the point..."dream day"...I never day dreamed about my wedding day. I never had an image imprinted in my mind from childhood. In fact, for the longest time I wanted a destination wedding. Mainly because I am not good at planning. I procrastinate, then get frustrated. Thanks to Pinterest though, I dreamed up my day in no time flat after Jeff proposed. I fell in love with the idea of a ribbon wall. Yes, it sounds underwhelming, and everyone thought I was crazy. Thank God for my sister-in-law Kelly. It's official, I can call her that now! No "future" in there. It's the real deal. She stepped up to the plate and made my dreams come true! Ribbon wall you ask?
You see that beauty behind us? That was A LOT of ribbon shopping, planning and work! And Kelly made it happen! It was absolutely perfect. It was one of my favorite things about our wedding day. As you can see, it's awesome and looked amazing in real life and in the pictures! Jeff requested I write this blog so that when we go back and read it, we can relive our day and remember how awesome it was. Pressure much? Thankfully our photographer, Miranda Murdock, took such amazing pictures, even if I fail at properly recording, she nailed it! I am obsessed with them, and she's only shown us a sneak peek. Seriously, I look at them multiple times a day. We were so blessed to be surrounded by our friends and family. Not only on our big day, but the week leading up to it!
There are so many parts of our wedding week and wedding that I want to remember. Moments that just meant so much to me. To us. One of them being that my best friend and Maid of Honor, Nicki, flew back from Maui to be with us the whole week. What's most special to me, is that last summer, on the eve of her wedding we had her last single lady slumber party, and we did the same thing for my wedding eve! We giggled, we reminisced and I grilled her about the feelings she had the night before. She helped me fine tune my vows, and she reassured me that my day would be wonderful when the weather was calling for a 40% chance of rain. And I can't forget my soul-sister Candace! She woke us up bright and early at 6am singing "going to the chapel" as she jumped into bed with us! ( Candace and her hubby Jason had their own slumber party in my basement on the super plush blow up mattress with a headboard ;) ) My girls not only made me my favorite breakfast and coffee, but were ready to get down to the gardens to decorate for the day ahead. And Beth, I totally was thinking of you too! Being a mommy, Beth stayed home with her husband and little nugget. I snuggled my baby boy the night before and I totally understand her staying home with her family. It didn't stop her from meeting up with us bright and early and getting to work!
The best thing about my bridesmaids is I met them each during different parts of life. Nicki is my earliest bestest friend. We met during vacation bible school when we were probably 4 or 5 and grew up together. Going our separate ways after high school didn't slow our friendship down and now we are both married. I met Beth when I first moved to Billings after my botched college attempt in Missoula. We were both freshly 21 and shared our dreams of getting married and starting families. Pretty amazing that we've got to see each others dreams come true and now we are both mommies! Candace, my soul-sister, my other half, we met through friends, and upon our first meeting we talked and talked and talked. We were pregnant together...sort of, not in the same state because she had to move, but distance didn't keep us apart. She moved back after a little over a year and we picked up where we left off. This time, hanging out over play dates and mommy date nights. I love her. I love them all! And together, its pretty much non-stop laughter and fun. Having them with me on my wedding day is something I will never forget.
....to be continued ( Brody is up from his nap)
